With Z-Dub at his Grandma's house, HotMomma and I went to the movies yesterday afternoon to see M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, starring Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel. Despite some brilliant early films, Shyamalan's latest have been mediocre at best, this newest one included. I guess it was supposed to be an eco-thriller, but it just didn't thrill. The story line was far-fetched and the dialogue was corny. It was reminiscent of the last eco-thriller failure we saw, The Day After Tomorrow. We were not impressed at all. But it was something to watch as we passed the time during our 108 F day.
I also have to add that we didn't go to our regular theater that offers a completely digital movie experience. Regrettably we went to the Regal Theaters at Green Valley Ranch Station Casino instead. For some reason the right side of the picture screen seemed to be out of focus. It was annoying to say the least.
To sum up, we learned two things this weekend. First, no more Shyamalamadingdong movies, and two, no more movies at Green Valley Ranch.
