a vegasdad rant

Why, oh, why does Z-Dub all of a sudden not want to sleep at night? I'm not kidding when I say he gets out of bed a minimum of 15 times a night for various reasons. This has been going on for about two weeks now and it's annoying the crap out of me. We've tried preventing him from napping during the day. We've even tried keeping him up later in the evening. All of our approaches to resolve this new bedtime ritual have failed miserably. It's frickin' annoying. It's interrupting "Daddy and Mommy time."

Now, changing the subject completely, why would Discovery Channel think it's smart to air "Shark Week" in the middle of summer when throngs of vacationers are visiting beaches across the country? Talk about scaring us out of the water. Luckily, we're in Las Vegas and the only real scary creatures at our beaches -- sand bottom hotel/resort pools -- are overweight, old and hairy Eurotourists who think it's fashionable to wear speedos. Having one of them bend over in front of you can cause severe illness and possibly death. That's why we prefer the more private pool cabanas. They also make us feel like rock stars.

Finally, I'm annoyed with myself for not finding more time to update this blog. A lot of it has to do with my hectic schedule lately. Also, the kids have been wacko lately. Now that The Deuce is mobile, it seems that all we do is try to prevent him from hurting himself. Speaking of The Deuce, he has one voracious appetite. I thought Z-Dub was going to eat us to the poor house, but we're quickly realizing that our more plump infant is even more of a pig. It's no wonder he's only 14 lbs. lighter than his three-year-old brother.

That's all.

where did my week go?

I can't frickin' believe it's Friday already. The week flew by so quickly. Probably because I was so busy, especially at work. I have so much to write about and I plan on catching up this weekend. I promise.

blahhhh!

Today I took the day off from work because family is visiting. Instead of having a relaxing time I ended up having a busier work day than if I was in the office. I was putting out fires all over the place, all over the phone. I'm exhausted. The result, of course, is a sore throat, laryngitis and a not-so-good feeling. I think I've come down with something. It sucks. I think I'll sleep now.

wow...he actually wrote something

I finally found time to do some writing that has nothing to do with my day job. Unfortunately, it's not for this blog, but instead for the other one I write for, Uptake.com .

Actually, I'm excited about the subject of my latest piece. It's about the Dam Short Film Festival in Boulder City. It's coming up in a couple of weeks and will feature 124 short films from indy filmmakers from Nevada and around the world. Check out the article and perhaps you'll want to go.

And on a side note, because I know you'll find it funny, The Deuce peed on my new cell phone last night. It still works, but it has an odor.

a much needed break

The arrival of Friday couldn't come at a better time. I'm watching the clock and eagerly waiting for the end of the work day. To say it's been a trying week is an understatement. Work has been insanely busy and the added stress of worrying about our nephew has left me exhausted. I'm sure HotMomma feels the same way.

Now that the weekend is upon us, it's time to let loose and have some fun. We're going to party tonight. I'm having a drink few drinks. I may even get brave and sing a little Karaoke. That will definitely require more than one drink. There's some stiff competition among a group of friends to score a 100 on the system. Only one person has accomplished this so far. The song was Zombie by the Cranberries and she sings it amazingly. Of course, we think she practices a lot during the day, which gives her a huge advantage over the rest of us talentless fools.

Good food, good drinks, good company and crazy fun is exactly what we need tonight.

We also have family visiting this weekend, so hopefully we can plan something adventurous to do.

dream job at last

I woke up this morning to find that my dream job  is finally available. I shall apply immediately. I hope I get an interview.

I wonder if I can bring the family?

gettin' it done

Although I definitely am not lazy given the fact that we have a rambunctious two-year-old and an eight-week-old infant to care for, but I feel as though I've dropped the ball in writing for Uptake.com . The recent change in our family dynamic and the fact that my daytime job has been extremely busy has stolen time from me. I should also add that the hectic holidays didn't help. I was cranking out at least two articles a week prior to the birth of Deuce. In December I only wrote two. Now that it's a new year and I resolve to step it up and start producing. I'm sure Whit (the boss man) will appreciate it.

Off to a smashing start, yesterday I wrote this gem and posted it today. Please check it out. It's about a little local lake.
